Overview

A fine quality brass lantern clock by the esteemed makers Winterhalder and Hofmeier of Germany, Circa 1880.

Case

The substantial quality polished and lacquered brass case of conventional lantern clock design with four turned pillars surmounted by finely cast finials. The case top decorated with foliate castings and brass straps supporting the large polished bell, surmounted by a matching finial, the whole case standing on four turned brass feet.
The two opening side doors with applied sunburst decoration and the back door with green silk covered sound aperture.

Dial

The beautifully executed dial with matted brass centre and silvered and engraved chapter ring with four cast spandrels to the corners.

Movement

The fully restored high quality spring driven eight day movement stamped to the backplate W & H Sch.
Striking the hours on the single bell to the top of the case and ting tang striking the quarter hours on two bells, one inside the case the second on the top of the clock. The original brass bob pendulum and large original winding key.
