A fine quality mahogany 8 day longcase clock by Alexander Kirkwood of Paisley, circa 1770.

Typical Scottish case with flat top hood, with dentil moulding.

Rope twist columns to the hood capped with brass capitals.

Beautifully figured trunk door with satinwood crossbanding and shell inlay.

Satinwood crossbanded base mounted on ogee bracket feet. 

13" Arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, dial centre and name boss.

Extremely well executed engraving to the dial centre.

Fine quality 8 day movement striking the hours on a single bell.

Unusual feature of centre sweep calendar and Dutch band chapter ring.

Finely fretted blued steel hands.
