Overview

A good mid 19th century mahogany longcase regulator with circular silvered dial signed Bale of Bristol, subsidiary seconds dial with Observatory markings, blued steel hands.

Case

The richly figured flame mahogany case of lovely colour and patina with canted corners to the break arch hood and trunk, figured base with a single plinth.

Dial

The circular silvered dial signed Bale of Bristol, subsidiary seconds dial with Observatory markings, blued steel hands.

Movement

The substantial five pillar movement with thick shouldered plates. Fine six spoke wheelwork and high count twelve leaf pinions, Harrison’s maintaining power, deadbeat escapement, Beat setting adjustment to the crutch.

Weight and pendulum

Polished zinc bob compensated pendulum with ebony rod. Brass cylindrical weight with ornate pulley.
