Overview

A very fine flame mahogany early Biedermeier Grande Sonnerie Viennese Regulator, circa 1850

Case

The beautifully figured mahogany case inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing, the four light design case with arched top.

Dial

The one piece enameled dial with Roman numerals and signed to the dial centre with makers names, surrounded by a gilded cast pie crust brass bezel. Monogrammed to the reverse for the dial maker Franz Mosslinger

 

Movement

The fine quality eight day duration Grande Sonnerie triple train movement of the highest quality striking on two blued steel curled gongs, with deadbeat escapement and strike silent facility.

Weights and pendulum

Polished brass cased weights, with ornate spoked pulleys, polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with wooden rod.

Hands

Extremely finely fretted blued steel hands, of beetle and poker design. Original winding key
