Case
The well proportioned case of excellent original colour and patination.
The beautifully figured burr walnut and ebonised case inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing, surmounted with a decorative pediment and ebonised finials, with matching finials to the inlaid shaped base. The locking glazed door with the original lock and key, flanked by canted and shaped burr walnut mouldings inlaid with boxwood stringing.
Dial
The original high quality two piece enamelled dial with Roman numerals, the inner and outer dial surrounded by polished brass bezels with knurled decoration, numbered to the reverse 69482.
Movement
The fully restored high quality eight day timepiece movement with deadbeat escapement and maintaining power.
The A-frame plates united by four turned pillars, with knurled thumb screws securing the movement to the mounting bracket in the case.
The early unsigned movement numbered 69482, of typical Lenzkirch design and fine quality manufacture.
Weights and pendulum
The polished brass cased weight, with spoked pulleys, polished brass bob pendulum with spun decoration and ebonised wooden rod.
Hands
Finely fretted blued steel hands of typical Lenzkirch design.
The clock comes with the original brass winding key.
An excellent clock of elegant proportions and beautiful use of the finest veneers, complemented by a superb movement.
The clock in fine original condition with the movement fully restored and has an excellent patinantion and colour.
This Lenzkirch Vienna regulator wall clock is illustrated in the Lenzkirch catalogue, design number 114 page 66.
The mechanism in this clock is serial numbered 69482, the authoritative tome – “Lenzkircher Uhren. 1851-2001 (150 Jahre). Aus der Geschichte einer bemerkenswerten Uhrmacherzeit” provides a table of serial numbers (pg 38) suggesting this piece was made in 1861.
