Case


A fine quality Georgian burr walnut longcase clock with a 12" break arch brass and silvered dial, signed Boyer Glover, London, dating circa 1750.
The high quality case veneered in beautifully figured burr walnut, of excellent colour and patination.
The London design breakarch topped hood, below turned columns attached to the glazed hood door, terminating with with brass capitals. Glazed movement viewing windows to the hood sides and matching quarter turned columns and capitals to the rear.
The long trunk door with well figured burr walnut veneer and razor edge moulding, original lock, strap hinges and decorative brass escutcheon plate.
The case sides with figured walnut, figured burr walnut base with skirted plinth.
The whole case constructed of solid oak with fine quality walnut veneers.

Dial

The 12" break arch engraved brass and silvered dial signed Boyer Glover, London to the arch, flanked by dolphin spandrels.
The silvered brass Roman chapter ring with outer minute track and Arabic five minute markings.
Silvered subsidiary seconds dial and silvered ringed calendar aperture above VI.
The finely matted dial centre with ornate urn design cast brass spandrels to the corners.

Movement

The fully restored high quality movement is of eight day duration, with the movement plates united by five knopped pillars, anchor escapement and rack striking striking the hours on a single bell.

The movement is fully restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.
Our horologist is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 35 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the 1977 Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.

The original brass cased lead weights, brass pulleys and brass bob pendulum with brass strap.

Hands

Finely wrought and fretted blued steel hands.

Overall a very fine Georgian London longcase clock of beautiful proportions, in excellent original condition.
