Antique Bracket Clocks, Antique Mantle Clocks

Antique bracket clocks or antique mantel clocks are spring-driven clocks with a short pendulum, housed in a wooden box designed to stand on a table, sideboard, mantelpiece or wall bracket.

For sale below are examples from the mid to late 18th century through to the late 19th century.

Many makers of longcase clocks also made this type of clock. As with the longcase clock there were many developments in style, shape and size of both the cases and dials and also variations in movement complexity.

They have been produced in a variety of timbers, ebonised fruitwood, walnut, rosewood and mahogany. The earlier clocks had brass dials similar to those seen on a longcase clock with brass backplate gilded spandrels, silvered chapter ring and zones. Silvered brass dials were used from 1770 and painted from 1780, the round enamelled dial is a feature of bracket clocks from the late 18th century and Regency period.

All of our bracket and mantle clocks have been sympathetically restored and have been expertly vetted for originality and good working order. All clocks purchased from us are guaranteed for two years.

Visitors are welcome to view our stock at our showrooms in Yorkshire, at any time. Please telephone/email to arrange a viewing appointment or receive further information on our current stock.
