Case

A fine quality burr elm 8 day duration longcase clock, by SE Davie of Troon circa 1850. Typical Western Scotland style case, with an applied swan-neck pediment and columns to the hood. The unusual case made from choice burr elm veneers, very striking appearance and exceptional quality cabinet work by Affleck of Ayr.

 

Dial

The beautiful quality arched japanned dial, with "The lady of the lake" to the arch and finely painted corners depicting the continents.

Movement

A fully restored fine quality eight day four pillar movement, rack striking the hours on a single bell.

Weights and pendulum

Original matching oval cast iron Scottish weights and painted faced pendulum bob, depicting a steam ship.

Hands

Finely fretted and decorated polished brass hands.
